Vortex was a hardware and software manufacturer for the Amstrad CPC. They produced different disc drives and disc operating systems.
F1
A 5.25" disc drive. The disc drive also was available as an extended version, called F1-X, which also contains a RS232 interface.
FD-1
The FD-1 disc system contains two 5.25" disc drives. Technically it is the same like the F1 disc drive.
