A Wallpaper is a picture which is used in the background of the surface / GUI of an operating system. On the CPC wallpapers can be found on OS like FutureOS and SymbOS.

Under FutureOS a wallpaper is a 16 KB screen file without an header. Its dimensions are 512 pixel in X, 256 pixel in Y and 8 scanline per character line.

Such a 16 KB wallpaper files is stored in one 16 KB block of the expansion RAM (E-RAM) and a system variable points to the corresponding E-RAM.
