A cartridge system was introduced with the launch of the Plus series and GX4000 console.

This enabled developers to distribute games via cartridges on the new Amstrad. The cartridges are protected by the ACID chip.

Extraction Hardware

The RAM7 Cartridge Hacker is able to dump the contents of a cartridge ROM without damaging the cartridge.
