Seperating User:xxx and xxx pages?

Hi Guys. First let me tell you that I really love the idea of having a cpc wiki. And as it seems it is working out quite well. Ok. I want to suggest to have different articles for a pseudo and the real name of any person who has released stuff in each role. Take Face Hugger aka Andreas Stroiczek as an example: He has done "serious" projects (like the digiblaster, which was released in the CPCAI) as well as scene related stuff (demos etc.) and I would suggest having an article to both of his roles and cross linking those two. I think that some ppl might know only one of the roles that someone has/had and therefore I think it is an interesting and informative feature to link each project to the suitable "role" as well as the different roles of each person to each other.

What to you think of that? 2006-08-17, BSC.

Hi BSC (funny to see your login harking back to Betasoft Cologne!). I'd agree absolutely that it's really good to highlight all of a particular person's roles. As another example, some people might not realise that though Anti-Multiface is credited to "Merlin J. Bond of Magicsoft", that's another name for Serge Querne aka Longshot. But I think it's better to keep them on one page - so Andreas Stroiczek would have the same page for his demos and for his Digiblaster work. You can do this easily using the "|" character in a link, like this: Andreas Stroiczek or Face Hugger. --ChaRleyTroniC (aka Richard Fairhurst ;) )
Don't forget that you can also do redirects for the Person's name (e.g. in the article of "Andreas Stroiczek" you would do a forward with "# redirect [{Face Hugger]]). You then can have all the informations about that persons on one page. --Octoate 21:04, 17 August 2006 (CEST)

Missing Templates

There are missing templates listed at the end of the missing pages list... maybe adding them would help if we want the games infobox to work... --PulkoMandy 15:22, 12 August 2006 (CEST)

8bit Wiki leadership

Just for your motivation, it seems that very soon we are becoming the biggest Wiki project for any 8bit machine ever! :-) Let's beat this left one: [1] and then we are the number 1! Thanx a lot to all for your contributions! An especial "thank you" goes to Gryzor (project initiator), Kanagaroo (hoster) and all the very active persons like CPCLER, Ythcal, etc... (sad, that there is no "contribution top 10" as a "special page"). Did you ever think, that this great project would become SO sucessfull? -- Prodatron 00:59, 1 September 2006 (CEST)

This is bloody amazing!!! Of course in terms of visitors we're wwway behind but in terms of articles we're very near - and the c64 wiki has been around for... how much longer, really? Thanks for pointing out, though I'm not sure which aspect you meant :) Indeed it'd be really nice if we had a special page for top 10 contributors. Since there's no such page built-in, we may as well try and do it manually - we know each other anyway, and it'd be a nice way to acknowledge those who have taken this wiki so warmly... a huge thanks, people, and congrats!!! Gryzor 20:36, 1 September 2006 (CEST)
Ok, I added List of most active contributors. Maybe 500 is too much for the beginning? ;-) -- Prodatron 21:14, 1 September 2006 (CEST)
But of course this is not *real* contributions - I mean I cannot take credit for a contribution when all I've done is correct a spelling mistake... contributions are all edits, comments and articles; of course, there's no way to distinguish between all this, so let's just make a note...Gryzor 08:39, 2 September 2006 (CEST)
You are right. There are several problems. Manually it's too hard to figure out, what are new articles, big modifiactions, small modifications, image uploads etc. On the other hand a "new article" contribution doesn't mean a better contribution than a modification, if the new article is only a stub. So I think it can stay like this - it just shows who is active, that should be enough. I will add a note now. -- Prodatron 12:49, 2 September 2006 (CEST)
Have a look at the extensions page on the MediaWiki homepage. There are a lot of extensions which could help us a lot. The two templates for games, which we already submitted, would be great to use. The discussion about it is in the talk archive. --Octoate 14:48, 2 September 2006 (CEST)
500 currently seems to be too hard to reach, so I set the limit to 250 -- Prodatron 21:30, 1 September 2006 (CEST)
WoW!!! We've beat'em, We are the biggest!:))) Very nice, and sure makes me proud, that I've taken part in this.! Gryzor, really great idea, this CPCWiki is. :)))--Torn 16:39, 8 September 2006 (CEST)
Yeah =)! Thanks to all contributors who made this Wiki so successfull!!!! --Octoate 10:29, 12 September 2006 (CEST)

CPC Timeline

Maybe, we should make a CPC Timeline article, listing all CPC events(be it Demoscene releted, release of game, software or hardware, start of a fanzine - or it closure and so on) by date(I know... This would be something really big)... Problem then is, where to start. Should it be CPC 464 incept date? Or maybe the lauch of Amstrad Plc.? Or, maybe it should be birthdate of Alan Sugar? I don't know... Just think of it...--Torn 16:19, 2 September 2006 (CEST)

Great idea! The question is, if we should seperate it into important events/hardware/software/scene etc. or pack everything into one list? -- Prodatron 16:33, 2 September 2006 (CEST)
Good question. Personaly, I opt for single list. This way, this article would be useful to see time dependencies between some releated events, even if they waren't of great importance. The more important events would be distinguesed by having links to pages about them, or maybe by simple usage of bold.--Torn 23:27, 2 September 2006 (CEST)

Some cleanup ...

In the list of Orphaned pages, there are some empty pages that should be deletted... others shoud be linked from somewhere :) Special:Unusedimages here are 45 files wich aren't used... they should be removed too ... --PulkoMandy 22:22, 29 September 2006 (CEST)

Ok, I deleted all unused images, which have been uploaded more than 2 weeks ago. -- Prodatron 01:59, 5 October 2006 (CEST)
