Founded in 1984 with offices in Cheltenham, Probe Software began by publishing their own games before dropping out of the limelight and working as a third party developer of original and licenced software for the major publishers of the day, handling a number of CPC conversions with varying results in terms of quality.
The group, who went on to produce hits like Die Hard Trilogy and the Mortal Kombat series for the Playstation and Megadrive, were acquired by Acclaim in 1995 before the parent company declared its self bankrupt in 2004.
