Silent Service is a 1986 WW II Pacific warfare submarine simulation designed by Sid Meier and published by Microprose.

The was (and continues to be) highly respected, despite not being the most realistic or detailed sub sim. The CPC port suffers a bit from the choice of MODE 1 for the game (typical Spectrum port). On a GT65, some of the graphics (black ships on a dark blue sea) have very low contrast, making the game almost unplayable. This game should really have included an alternative palette for green screens.
